Few creatures have the kind of charismatic clout as the lion.  Today, this iconic animal faces its greatest threat yet–and most people don’t even realize it.  To get to the bottom of this conservation challenge, CFAR Sounding talks to one of the foremost experts in lion research.  For over 4 decades, Dr. Craig Packer has been studying lions across Africa.  Through over 100 publications, several novels, and a legacy of students-turned ecologists, Dr. Packer has played a major role in the conversation about lions both at home and abroad.  In this multipart series, Dr. Simba Wiltz and Asli Goncer catch up with this reknown ecologist to talk lions to get to the source of what drives this legendary creature, and what is driving them toward extinction.

An Interview with Dr. Craig Packer, UM Lion Research Center, Part 1  Release Date: April 7, 2015
