Ahiyanka
(ah hee YAHN kah)

Tigress

"Remembrance"

Birthday: April 1, 2001

Ahiyanka was born here to William and Nuni and was the only one of her litter to survive. Being an only cub, Ahi quickly showed a lot of character, and always chooses to display it.  She became known for her biting, and would scream if her 2-legged mom was not holding her.  When she was about 6 months old, it was noticed that she did not run with the same gait as other cats; a result of what is believed to be an injury at birth. She was started on natural medicines for joints and muscle development.  We are thankful that she is holding her own. Ahi loves to play in her special tub and entertain folks by bouncing and smiling at them. She and Freedom, her roommate, come into the garage every night to eat and sleep. Each night, she walks the compound with her handler to make sure that everyone else is safe and secure before retiring for the night.
Magic Moments:

"My life would be very empty without her; my mornings and my nights revolve around 'the girls', (Ahi and Freedom). She walks the sanctuary with me; she eats her 12 meatballs from my hand; I often sit with her and talk to her as I help her de-bone her chicken, (which she is famous for)."
